Jean Lignier
Jean has been working in collaboration with Fjallabak for some 25 years now. When summer comes, he comes to our place with one or two groups of loyal hikers or comes to guide ours or we co-fill together. Even-tempered, reassuring, funny, an epicurean by nature, a bon vivant, a cordon bleu, this one who describes himself as an Artisan-traveler. In 1981 Jean made his first high-altitude expedition with the ascent of one of the most beautiful mountains in the world: Alpamayo in Peru. In 1983, he went on an expedition to Alaska with Mount Crosson on skis, climbing Foraker and the complete crossing of the McKinley massif on skis. Throughout his life he has gone on trek after trek: in Reunion, Majorca, Madeira, Cape Verde, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Turkey, Ethiopia, Namibia, Botswana, Indonesia, Burma, Papua, Bali, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Nepal, India, Ladakh, Zanskar, Madagascar, Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Greenland, Faroe Islands and Iceland. He shows a real interest in ancient cultures and for the past fifteen years in indigenous peoples. In his countless travels, he helps people who trust him discover the links between humans, cultures and their stories, the perception that ultimately everyone is very strongly connected to « the great whole » …
